Viridian’s new multi-phytonutrient complex is formulated as a two a day programme. This provides all the benefits of taking a very good multivitamin and also a strong phyto-nutrient complex so essential to enhancing the body’s defences and systems. For best results take either two together with breakfast, or one with breakfast and one with lunch.

VEGETARIAN CAPSULES.

Vegetarian capsules are used by Viridian for a number of reasons. They are able to dissolve much more easily than tablets, especially by people who have impaired digestive systems due to stress and the ageing process. There are also concerns regarding the use of gelatin based products due to fears over BSE etc.

BALANCED B-COMPLEX.

The B-complex used is a balanced formula meeting today’s nutritional requirements. Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) is the major consideration as it is the main anti-stress and ‘energy’ vitamin that the body requires. HIGH PHYTONUTRIENT ANTIOXIDANT CONTENT.

The key active compounds found in pine bark extract, grape seed extract, green tea and quercetin are flavonoids, polyphenols, oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs) and catechins. All these compounds have pronounced and varied effects on the body. This can range from catechins in green tea helping to protect against damage to LDL (bad) cholesterol caused by oxygen. The use of green tea increases antioxidant activity in the blood.
OPC’s found in pine bark and grapeseed extracts help protect against free radical damage to cells. This effect can be up to 50 times more active than the antioxidant effect of vitamin C and E. A key advantage of using these extracts is that they are taken up into the cell membranes and help to protect against both water and fat soluble free-radicals.
Many flavanoids have been shown to inhibit tumour formation, with quercetin the most effective in experimental studies.

Lipoic acid plays two major roles in the human body. Firstly it is a unique and powerful antioxidant. Its uniqueness comes from the fact that it is both water and fat-soluble thus allowing it to work throughout the whole body. It also has the remarkable ability to enhance and extend the life of other antioxidant nutrients.
Lipoic acid has also been shown to be essential in the manufacture of glutathione which is required for the production of the most powerful antioxidant in the body- GLUTATHIONE PEROXIDASE.
